june favourites

Real Techniques Foundation brush, Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, Sure Fragrance Bright Roll On, Bourjois Color Boost in Peach on the Beach, Next Just Pink L'Eau perfume, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Ole Flamingo!, Kindle Wifi

It's monthly favourites time again and I've got some right gems here for you! My ultimate favourites from this month have to be the Bourjois Velvet Rouge Edition lipstick which I blogged about here, and my Kindle which I got for my birthday last month. I've been loving reading on it and I've read so many books since having it, including The Fault In Our Stars and lots of chick flicks!

I've been umming and ahhing about the Urban Decay All Nighter spray and whether it actually works! I have concluded, however, that it does make makeup last a lot longer and I loved using it in the evenings on holiday.

This Real Techniques foundation brush is one I grabbed from my stash to try and it works wonders with concealer on spots and pigmentation; it's just a shame this is only available in the Core Collection.

I have loved using the Bourjois Peach on The Beach Colour Boost lip crayon for adding a bit of glossy pink to the lips- it's definitely not one for its long lasting effects though! And finally two very bargainous products are the Sure Bright Roll On which smells DIVINE and the Next Just Pink L'Eau Perfume which is amazing for it's low price tag of £7.50!

What have you been loving this month?

Benefit's They're Real Push Up Liner

Having had a month to give the Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner a go and with the official release of it tomorrow, I thought I would give my two-cents about it. I was extremely lucky to get an invite to the launch of this revolutionary product, which you can read about here, and ever since then there’s been such a buzz surrounding Benefit’s new edition to the They’re Real family.

With this liner being the first ever gel liner in a pen form, it claims to be easy to use, lash hugging, long lasting and waterproof. Now I am going to be totally honest and say I’m really torn with this, I really feel like some of the negatives come from the positives...does that make sense? No, ok let’s get to it…

When it comes to eye liner- I am a noob; I tend to enhance my eyes with black eye shadow instead as it avoids the frustration of perfecting that neat little line and flick. My preferred type of eye liner has to be the felt liner in pen form and I love the gel formula so the idea of Benefit’s new invention sounded wonderful to me.

Let’s start with the positives; I really love the gel consistency with the matte finish and it is extremely long lasting which means you can go the day without worrying what state you’re in. I do perhaps find that the liner is so long lasting and so waterproof that it is hard to remove, which is why they brought out the They’re Real Remover which definitely works a trick, but not all eye makeup removers are going to work on this…just be warned.

The flexible rubber nip is designed to ensure you can get right down to the lash line which it does pretty well, but I find the flexibility is perhaps too much…for me I don’t have enough control and I end up having to keep thickening the line- definitely ruining the sophisticated look I was going for. I also find it hard to measure how much to twist out, leading to big clumps of gel creating big messes everywhere!

I’m definitely not writing this off or giving up, I just think this product takes a lot of practice and getting used to and I definitely don’t think it’s easy for someone that struggles with a good line and flick already. I have really loved wearing it when I’ve got it right and I can see why so many people are loving it, I just need to get the flick down.

I do love the whole concept and love the fusion of the gel and the pen and I can’t wait to get my look right soon. I think I definitely need to get over my laziness with makeup application and give it a bit more time- I can do this!

products i've used up #4

Even if I'm not overly keen on a product, I try and use it up or I pass onto someone else; after growing another big collection of empty products, I thought it was about time I shared what I've been using up.

I do enjoy doing these videos because it gives me a chance to give full and truthful reviews of products as I've normally been using it for a fair while. The latest edition of Products I've Used Up features a few products I've loved and quite a few I wouldn't repurchase, so you may find it interesting to hear my thoughts!

There's also a mix of drugstore and higher end products, enjoy!

the perfect lip product

It’s extremely unusual for me to love a product so much that I have to take photos and blog about it within two days; but here we are.

I first read about this little beauty on Vivianna’s blog and I knew it had to be good if she had raved about it. I’m always after new lip products as I love to wear them so I decided to give this new Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick a try and I went for this bright red/ pink in Ole Flamingo.

As soon as I glided this onto my lips I just thought, WOW. It applied in a creamy, almost luxurious way with a gorgeous punch of pigment straight away. It then sets to a lovely matte finish, which is my personal favourite. The true worth of this product is that it really does last HOURS. I put this on at lunch time and it was still on past dinner time; through eating, drinking and showering, there was still an amazing wash of colour.

I would say this is so powerful as a stain, that you have to be careful when you first apply it as it can transfer onto everything else quite badly. I really think without packaging, this could pass as a higher end product which is obviously why it’s priced at the higher end of the drugstore spectrum.

I have to say that I think I have found the holy grail of lip products. Not only is it a beautiful shade but it has a gorgeous finish and the lasting power is just incredible. I will definitely have to restrain myself to buy more of the collection straight away.

Has anyone else tried these?

holiday florals

Dress: Boohoo
Sandals: Topshop
Bag: Topshop

Another day, another football match. Whilst I can’t have a conversation with Dan without a 20 second delay, I thought I would share my next holiday outfit with you.

I’ve mentioned on here before that I went a little crazy before my holiday, buying things with the excuse that I 'needed it for holiday'. When I was away I realised how crazy I had been; I think I wore about half the things I took and many things still have the tags on (whoops), needless to say I'll be taking a few things back this weekend.

There is one impulse purchase that I really don’t regret and that’s this really pretty Boohoo dress that I ordered a few days before going away for an evening option.

You can never go wrong with a pretty floral smock dress. I really love this as it was so reasonable but it’s such a pretty and unique design. I teamed it with this year’s sandal addition; I like the contrast of the green and tan.

Oh how I would love to be on a seafront right now. You could say I’m suffering from post-holiday blues just a bit right now (as I sit here with puffy eyes and a sniffly nose- thank you so much hay fever)!

The weather has been its true unpredictable self this week but I’m hoping the weather stays away this weekend so I can imagine I’m back in paradise!

a pocket of paradise

This was our second time staying in Protaras in Cyprus as we love it so much, but the first time we went with Dan's family so this holiday was a bit different. I thought I would share some of my favourite photos which capture some of our favourite parts.

The most gorgeous, brochure-looking, photo up top was taken at our favourite beach of all time which is a little treasure called Konnos Bay. I don't think that many people know about it as it's quite tucked away so it has just the right amount of people- not too busy and not too dead. We love how there's always (nearly) a sunbathing spot under an umbrella and the gorgeous clear, and slightly warm water which you always have to dip into. I'm not sure we'll ever find a beach as perfect to us.

We hired a car for the week which was really handy to have as you can see that we did a bit of exploring of the island and drove to Pathos and found Aphrodite's Rock. This is not to say the car didn't cause us any trouble- not only did the battery die, Dan had to change a flat tyre in the blistering heat which wasn't fun at all, but it didn't ruin our holiday thank goodness!

Dan isn't a massive fish lover but on one occasion we shared yummy whitebait and he even went onto have fish and chips...he's a changed man! I really loved this restaurant as it's right on the beach and I love the white furniture but the food and service weren't quite the match unfortunately. An evening walk along the beach promenade quickly made up for this though.

This beautiful village that I couldn't stop snapping was one of my favourite stops on a jeep safari tour we took into the Troodos Mountains which was a last minute decision but I'm so glad we did it. Exploring the mountains, waterfalls, eating traditional food and visiting this village Lania was one of my highlights.

I had to take a photo of our favourite dish of our holiday which was this mouth-wateringly-good steak. It wasn't just the steak that was good- the peppercorn sauce was the best...thing...ever!

Finally you can see when we visited another one of our favourite places- Cape Greco. We love the turquoise water which you can have a swim in- (Dan risked diving into a quieter part but I was too nervous), the caves and the vast beautiful, quiet landscape which seems to just keep going. We actually travelled here by quad bike as we decided to hire one for the day (which also broke on us-shh!) because it's so fun to whizz around on one- I even got to drive it which was extremely exciting.

Overall you may be able to tell that I had a really wonderful week and today I have truly been suffering with not only Monday blues, but post-holiday blues. If you've never been to Cyprus or this part of Cyprus, it really is a little gem and I think we'll find it hard to never go back.

holiday stripes

Dress: Glamorous
Shoes: Vans
Bag: Topshop
Necklace: Debenhams

So I'm back home after having an amazing week in sunny Cyprus. Dan and I had such a lovely time which was spent chilling on the beach, exploring mountain villages, eating too much and getting sunburnt! I'm aiming to do a post which is dedicated to my week with some of my favourite photos that I took.

This is one of the evening outfits which I thought I would share with you. It's extremely simple but it was perfect for the heat. I think the Vans keep it quite casual and comfortable but the added necklace makes it slightly more suited for evening. I took a few more evening outfit photos so I will share those with you too.

This weekend was spent having a lovely time at my sister's baby shower as she only has five weeks to go till she gives birth to my niece or nephew (so excited!). We had such a good time and her friend's organised such a great afternoon which I snapped a lot of so I may share some of those photos with you too. My sister has actually been writing a pregnancy blog so I would love it if you could go and check that out. Today involved a Nandos and 22 Jump Street date with Dan, then an evening meal out with my parents which was a nice way to end my time off work. Back to reality tomorrow though!

Let me know if you'd like to see more holiday photos and some from the baby shower too!

off on holiday!

(Going clockwise- hover over description for link)
Primark Sunglasses, Bourjois Peach on The Beach

I thought I would show you some of the bits I'm bringing on holiday with me as I'm actually flying to Cyprus tomorrow so I'm in the full swing of last minute packing mode. I think I went a bit crazy leading up to this week; I kept buying things with the excuse that 'it's for holiday' and Dan even joked that he wouldn't recognise anything I was wearing, which if I'm honest is probably going to be true!

These very new white Vans were purchased in mind for holiday as I find them so comfy and I thought white ones would be great for Summer. You can see my Kindle here; I actually got this for my birthday and I'm so excited I can take this with me, I've already got a selection of books to choose from on there, including The Fault In Our Stars which I thought I would try and read before the movie came out. Let me know if you've read it guys!

I've fallen back in love with these Primark sunglasses as I love that RayBan retro look. The gingham print you can see is my new ASOS high waisted bikini bottoms which I think are super cute and I'm so glad I found the high waisted bikini bottoms (life saver). I've also packed about four playsuits in my favourite comfy style which you can find here.

I've really tried to incorporate a lot of different colours and patterns into my suitcase but there are still  lot of white and black tank tops to be seen but they're essentials right?

I've decided not to vlog my holiday or worry about my blog over the week because I really just want to have a relaxing time, without having to think about too much.

So I'll be back soon!

mini primark haul in pictures

White Flatform Sandles- £10
Black and White Sandles- £8
Flip Flops- £1
Toiletry Set- £1
Beach Bag- £4
Straw hat- £4
Floral Playsuit- £10

At the weekend I went on a bit of a mission; I had a little list of what I still wanted for my holiday and I knew that Primark were likely to hit the spot so I hunted out all the things I 'needed'. I went to the huge Lakeside store so I could've spent hours in there but I knew I only wanted a few certain things so I tried to be selective!

First up, I wanted some chunky white sandals for evening outfits and unfortunately they only had big sizes left in the ones I liked but when I saw these flatforms, I thought they'd do the job. I think they're going to be really comfy too so I'm glad they made the basket.

Next up I wanted another evening outfit as I have more outfits for day time and when I saw this cute floral playsuit, I just had to grab it. I'm still not 100% on this; I like the shape of it but I'm unsure of the pattern when it's on but I think it'll look nice on holiday with a tan!

Finally, I had flip flops, a beach bag and a hat on my list and as you can see, I ticked all of those boxes. I didn't really need a new bag or hat but I thought it might be nice to have a new set this year, and for the price, why not! You can also see I grabbed a set of these toiletry bottles because I always find these handy to fill with my shampoo etc.

Other things that didn't quite make the photo-worthy blog post were my trusty shoe socks (to wear with Vans), tights (I get through SO many) and kirby grips (you can never have too many).

What do you think of my Primark purchases?

floral shorts & chocolate pudding

Ebay bag

This weekend has been filled with wearing in my holiday floral shorts, indulging in naughty chocolate pudding, continually staring at my gorgeous birthday tulips, holiday shopping and lots of eating.

I really want to start doing a lot more lifestyle photo posts, I'm constantly inspired by other blogs, and one of my favourites has to be Rosie's blog, The Londoner, which is filled with beautiful photo-heavy posts. Along with bugging Dan to take these outfit photos for me, I tried to take photos of my favourite bits of the weekend, although I didn't do very well with getting more than three! The rest of my weekend was filled with last minute holiday shopping in Primark, as well as trying to hunt down a white blazer-which I eventually did in Uniqlo, eating Nandos, going to the cinema and going for a run (so not particularly photo worthy).

I've mentioned briefly before but I'm off to Cyprus on Friday so I'm trying to get a lot of blog and Youtube things done before I go. I've got something exciting planned on my YouTube channel on Wednesday so you may want to be subscribed, but I'll let you know on here too. I'm also going to share what I got from Primark tomorrow so watch out for that. I literally cannot wait to go on holiday, I've bought so many clothes 'for holiday' so I think I'll be taking a few outfit pictures while I'm there! The pair of shorts I'm wearing above are intended for holiday but I actually think I prefer them with a pair of tights and boots than my pasty bare legs. Let me know what you think.

I've posted my May Favourites video today too so go check that out if you fancy it!

It's actually the last day to vote in the Cosmopolitan blog awards so if you fancy giving my blog or YouTube a vote, I would really appreciate it!
