Christmas Baking

I've been a bit quiet on the ol' blog lately and I'm sorry for that but I will do an update this week as I've got something super exciting happening after Christmas which is the main reason why I haven't been blogging much.

I thought I would do a bit of a different post for you today as it's so close to Christmas now and I thought it was a nice fun post! I made Gingerbread Men for the first time and they turned out pretty tasty and chewy! If you want to see how I created them (and Peppermint Creams) then you can watch my new video above or here.

I cannot believe it is now only three days to go before Christmas; as I'm working up until the day itself, it hasn't felt very festive but I've been trying my best to get in the spirit!

As I said, I'll be back with a little update post!

Wonderous Watch

When I got an email from Daniel Wellington I got quite excited because I seriously love their collection of watches. I've seen quite a lot being featured on pretty Instagram accounts and across my favourite blogs so I jumped at the chance of having one of the beauties.

I went for the Classic Sheffield Lady watch in rose gold because I thought it was the perfect face size and it just had to be rose gold because that's the prettiest in my opinion! I haven't taken this off my wrist since I got it as it's just so classic and lovely. The soft leather strap makes it super comfy to wear and it's not too big or too small!

If you are loving these watches as much as me and fancy one for Christmas, you can get 15% off with my personalised code holidayfayesfix, how exciting! (This lasts till 31st December)

Christmas Party Look

Product used:

As it’s now December I’ve been trying to get some more festive content on my YouTube and blog. I was really excited to share my latest makeup look with you which I think would be great for a Christmas party or any party at all really.

The Stila eyeshadow in Kitten is my favourite of all time, it is the most perfect champagne base shade and the bright liptick of MAC Lady Danger is the best bright lip ever!

I really hope you like this look and you can watch the video to see how I created it, from start to finish.

As there’s only two weeks till Christmas now, the decorations all went up in our house this weekend and I’m even thinking about starting my wrapping! Who else is super excited?

November Favourites

As you can probably tell I have been loving lip products this month! If you'd seen my recent blog post, I have been donning the Kylie Jenner lip recently which has involved MAC Soar, MAC Velvet Teddy and I've been adding a bit of pink with MAC Please Me! I have found a really love dupe for this look though, which is slightly more pink toned than brown which is the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob

An old favourite in the form of Barry M Blueberry nail polish has come back into my life this month. I have loved wearing bright polish with a more neutral outfit as it just makes the outfit more interesting and pops out. Another oldie has to be the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash which I didn't actually like much when I first got it but I am seriously loving it now! I don't personally think it smells much of lime, I think it smells much more like the taste of cream soda...anybody else?! The last favourite this month is Benefit's They're Real Mascara which is another product that has taken a bit of time for me to enjoy buy it gives me such long and thick lashes!

I can't believe the next monthly favourites video will be at the end of the year! I am SUPER excited for Christmas now which is why I've filmed and planned a couple of Christmas themed videos so make sure you're subscribed to see those. This weekend has flown by but there's not long to go till I have my festive time off, yay!

Christmas Wish List

I'm loving the festive lead up to Christmas on the blogs at the moment and it's only going to get more exciting with more themed posts! I love seeing what everyone lusts over for Christmas so I thought I would share some of my wishlist with you.

1. Topshop Teddy Robe- Who doesn't like an immensely fluffy dressing gown? I know I do! I've tried this on a couple of times now and I just can't get over how soft and thick it is. It is pretty pricey for loungewear but I would live in my PJs if I could so I would definitely get the most out of this. The hood with ears just tops it all off doesn't it?

2. ZOEVA Rose Gold Makeup Brushes- As much as I love my Real Techniques brushes, I feel like I need to give some new ones a go and what better way than this beautiful rose gold set. I've heard good things about ZOEVA brushes so I would love these in my collection.

3. Girl Online by Zoe Sugg- I just had put this on my list. Zoe is an amazing inspiration for all of us in the blogging and YouTube world and I'm sure this will be a great girly read.

4. Primark Olaf PJs- These Frozen PJs have been on my wishlist ever since I saw the photo on Instagram but I think they may be hard to find so I may just have to keep wishing.

5. Pink Mixing Bowl- Dan and I are planning on moving out early next year so I've started collecting cute bits and bobs. A pink mixing bowl like this would be the dream!

6. Cath Kidston Apron- Going along with the last item, I am lusting over cute aprons, like this Cath Kidston one, so I can pretend I'm the perfect baker.

7. Argos Cream Weighing Scales- If I want to be the perfect baker, I would love the perfect weighing scales and I think these are super cute and super affordable. How lovely would these look in your kitchen?

8. Escentric Molecule 01- This is my favourite perfume of all time and I've used up a whole bottle of it recently so I'm really missing the beautiful scent.

9. LUSH Pop In The Bath Bubble Bar- I love a good bath, especially a LUSH bath so I thought I'd add a few sweet scented bubble bars to keep me relaxed and happy.

I've also asked my Mum for a variety of pots and pans which weren't quite so pretty to look at so I've left them off! I hope you like what I'm wishing for and it may have given you some ideas if you weren't sure what to ask for.

Winter Lips

Most people will know that I'm a bit obsessed with lip products; I love bright lips, nude lips and dark lips. When the months start getting colder and darker, I love donning the deeper colours and when I discovered this little beauty, I knew it would be my new favourite.

Like most people, I love Rimmel Finish Matte lipstick in 107 which is such a lovely deep red shade, but when I found there was an even prettier colour sitting right beside it, I was very happy. Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in shade 30 is more purple toned and I personally prefer this with my skin tone. The only negative I have with this lipstick is that it bleeds around the lips a bit so it's best not to over do it and dab it with tissue after application.

Has anyone else tried this alternative offering from Rimmel?

This weekend has been spent watching The Mockingjay chilling, shopping and eating, which is how most weekends tend to go, but I've got lots planned over the next few weekends; parties, putting up the Christmas decorations (YES!), watching my Dad in panto, more shopping and more eating! I'm starting to feel very festive now and I really can't wait now...only four weekends to go!

French Skincare Additions

I love trying to mix up my collections a bit more so when I was asked by My French Apothecary to choose some products, I was very happy. I already owned the Nuxe Reve de Miel Stick Levres Hydratant Lip Moisturising Stick so I thought I would give the potted version of the Lip Balm a go; I am finding the product very VERY thick, which is obviously the idea, but I'm just not sure I'm used to it yet after using the stick version. It is clearly very moisturising but I feel like the thickness almost sits on top, rather than sinking in, but hopefully I will start enjoying it a bit more soon.

One of my favourite skincare products to use when I'm having a bad breakout is the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo as I find it works wonders on reducing and getting rid of my spots and scars. I have wanted to try the + version for a while so I can't wait to start using this a bit more when I get some little nasties.

The Caudalie Beauty Elixir is another product I've been wanting to try for a while but just haven't got round to it before. When I first sprayed this, I found the minty scent quite strong and I'm yet to try this but I've been told by friends and heard from bloggers that this is extremely refreshing and a good addition to the routine. I can't wait to start using this in amongst my cleansers and toners.

I'd love to know if any of you have tried these products before?

Kylie Jenner Inspired Lips

I try not to get sucked in by beauty and blogger hype but when it comes to the Kylie Jenner lip craze; I couldn’t help but be a part of it. I’ve lusted over Kylie’s instagram for a while now, although personally I think she’s taking it a bit far in recent photos (just me?), and when the hushes started about what she was wearing on her lips, I knew I had to get it.

‘Apparently’ Kylie uses MAC Whirl and Soar lip liner and MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick. When Dan’s mum recently asked me, before jetting off on holiday, if there was anything I wanted from duty free, I knew what to ask for! I decided to go for Soar instead of Whirl because it has slightly more pink tones (rather than so brown) to it, which I personally prefer.

I have been LOVING wearing this lip look lately, which involves lining all over the lips with Soar, swishing over with Velvet Teddy and finishing up with MAC Please Me. I have to touch it up with Please Me as it’s my all time favourite shade and I think for my skin tone, I need to add a bit of pink.

Rimmel have two great dupes for this look; one being the Lasting Finish pencil in Spice, which I haven’t personally tried and the Exaggerate Lipliner in East End Snob, which is already been gracing my lips in the last week as it was a new bargain purchase.

Although I’m not 100% sure this suits me, I have received so many lovely comments on my Instagram and recent video where I’ve been donning this combination. What do you think of this dusky brownie pinky lip look?

October Favourites

I didn't try many new things out in October but I've already been switching it up in November so it should be a bit more interesting next month! I've starting bringing out all the Autumn/Winter colours which involves my all time favourite eye shadow combo in Estee Lauder's Raisins palette and a new lipstick favourite of mine- Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish in 30. Although I love the 107 shade just as much as everyone else, I think the 30 shade suits my skin tone a bit more as it's slightly more purple toned than red.

I've also been wearing Tanya Burr's nail polish in Penguin Chic a lot lately as it's a lovely subtle shade that's quite an unusual and makes a nice change from my other polishes. When it starts getting cold and dark outside, all I want to do is have a bath and this Comforter bubble bar has been the perfect piece of happiness lately; it smells divine and creates so many bubbles!

The last product I've been enjoying in the last month has been the Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray as it makes my hair so much more volumised and it smells so so good (it's just such a shame it's so pricey- but it has lasted me a while).

My week off has now finished and it's time to start my new job tomorrow, I'm pretty nervous but excited; here's to a new adventure! What have you been loving recently?

Edinburgh Part Three: The Perfect Cafe

I wanted to dedicate my entire last Edinburgh post on one of the best places we discovered in Edinburgh. We actually scouted this place out on our last morning before we set off home as Dan had found it via TripAdvisor and said we needed to go. I'm so glad we went as it ended up being the cutest, yummiest place to eat ever.

Papii served a massive range of breakfast, lunch, hot food, cold food, smoothies, milkshakes etc etc! I went for the Oreo milkshake (who wouldn't?) and it was one of the best milkshakes I've ever had; it was so thick and tasty. Dan opted for the extremely berry-fied smoothie which was also very tasty. My choice of brunch was this gorgeous looking salmon and cream cheese bagel, which had the best balsalmic dressing too. Dan chose the granola bowl as he's a cereal man, and enjoyed that very much. We both munched on the lovely brownie for afters and I can tell you that it was also very yumtastic.

I think I've raved enough about this little ol' place, but if you're ever in Edinburgh, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.

You can see Part One here and Part Two here. I also vlogged our trip if you want to watch that here.

Updates- New Job, Trips & Confidence

I personally love reading life update posts and I don't think I do them enough, so here's one for y'all! I've got lots of bits and bobs going on at the moment so I thought I would share them with you. (This is totally inspired by Kate as I love her little updates).

01. This is definitely the most important update and one that I've mentioned a few times on here already..I've got a new job! Since graduating, for the last year I was doing marketing for a finance company and let's just say it had its ups and downs! I'm currently having a week break before I start my new job as a Social Media Executive for a pretty cool company (it has a ballpit as a meeting room- so cool right?). I'm super excited for this new adventure (not to mention quite nervous) and it should mean in the new year Dan and I will move out at some point, which makes me even more excited!

02. I've been having quite a good time lately with visiting Canterbury and going to a bonfire night with Dan at the weekend and today I went shopping with my sister and baby nephew. The fun continues at the end of the week as Dan and I have booked a last minute two-night trip to Brighton and we will be off to another bonfire night when we get home (I can't get enough of them!). Brighton is one of my favourite places to visit so I'm excited to go back, any recommendations would be much appreciated! I actually realised that Dan and I have been around a lot this year; we've been to Norwich, York, Cyprus, Edinburgh and now Brighton. We do love a good trip!

03. I've been feeling a bit on and off with my blog and YouTube recently. I nearly did a whole post on this but I've refrained from doing so at the moment. I went to the Daily Mix Halloween party a couple of weeks a go and had quite a surreal time which resulted in me crying in my vlog. I think it can all feel very weird and overwhelming sometimes and you begin to over think things and compare yourself to everyone and everything else. I constantly doubt my content, photography and editing skills but then tell myself off; I need to enjoy it and not put too much pressure on myself. I need to stop comparing my worst self to everyone's best self.

04. I don't often talk about it much on my blog but I end up going to the cinema once or twice a week as we have Unlimited cards which means we like to see as many films as we can (we're both film geeks, having done it at uni). If you've watched my vlogs you would know we tend to go a lot! I've seen two films I've really loved recently and it's not often I spread the word, and they were two very different films. I really really loved Love Rosie, it's the most perfect British rom com and I fell in love with the characters and actors (especially Lily Collins). Another film I feel the need to rave about is Nightcrawler as it was just so creepy and unusual and Jake Gyllenhaal was insanely good. It had similar vibes to Drive, one of my favourite films of all time.

I think that's all the updates I can think of right now so I'm going to enjoy the rest of my week off and carry on reading a new book I've just started, Cabin Fever, which is another Kate inspired purchase. If you fancy a post about my top five books then let me know as I'm thinking of doing one.

Let me know what you'd like to see more of my blog...beauty? lifestyle? outfits? or a mix of everything?

Autumn Style Picks

A couple of weekends ago, my bestie Megan and I got together to talk all things Autumn (my favourite time of year). We filmed videos for both of our channels; on mine we chatted style and on Megan's we delved into beauty. You can see some of our style picks in this post but you can find out where they're from and see more of our picks in my video. Don't forget to visit Megan's channel to hear all about our Autumn beauty must haves!

I've had such a lovely weekend visiting Canterbury and chilling with Dan this weekend and now I've got a week off before I start my new job so that's pretty cool! I think I will do a life update post this week as I seem to have lots of things going on that I'd like to talk to you about so let me know if you want me to do that!

theBalm Frat Boy Blush

I thought I would introduce you to my new blusher love; theBalm Frat Boy. This cutely packaged blush gets raved about all over the blogosphere and now I know why. I'm not quite sure what makes this such a wonderful shade but it's a gorgeous subtle pink shade that almost borders on a bronzer shade; I think with the tone that it is, it would look good on a lot of different skin tones.

The pigmentation is really great too, you don't have to jab your brush into it constantly like some blushers need; this just need a little dab.

There's just not much not to love with it, it's also great for transporting around as it's a nice and slender. I tried to get a swatch photo but I just couldn't do it justice; I've been wearing it in a lot of my recent videos so you may get a good idea from those.

I have been very busy this week; I went to London for the Daily Mix Halloween party which you can see in the latest vlog and this weekend, me and the girls had a fabulous afternoon tea where we ate far too many cakes and scones! I've got one last week of my current job, then I have a whole week off, where Dan and I are planning to go away and then I start my new adventure; but I'll update you on all of that nearer the time!

Have any of you tried this fabulous blusher?

Autumn Get Ready With Me

Autumn is definitely my favourite month of all; I get so excited about the crisp weather, the pretty coloured trees and the leaves flying everywhere. I just think it's such a special time with lots of exciting things ahead like bonfire night and Christmas. I thought I would film an Autumn inspired makeup look, finished with my hair and an Autumnal outfit!

I used some of my favourite makeup products like the Estee Lauder eye shadow palette in Raisins and Rimmel 107 lipstick, although I think I've found a new winter lipstick I'm in love with, but more on that later!

I also used this pretty bronze pigment from Maybelline which I think I unfortunately got from America and may be unavailable, here but I know Rimmel do an amazing copper/bronze shadow stick.

I hope you enjoy watching me get ready for Autumn! This weekend has been spent filming videos with Megan, which will be up on my channel next week and chilling with Dan, it's been lovely! Today, fittingly, it has been the perfect Autumn day.

The New Coat

Coat: Oasis
Fur Collar: H&M
Jumper: Forever 21
Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Boots: Clarks
Lips: Rimmel 107

I have quite a big collection of bags, shoes and coats, which I regularly have to re-evaluate and clear out. I decided I wanted to treat myself to a decent coat this year as the majority of my collection comprises of cheaper, badly fitted coats that just don’t look right anymore. I’ve been looking for a good coat for a while now and wasn’t having much luck; they were either the wrong colour, the wrong fit or wrong style.

I just happened to be walking through House of Fraser when I spotted this gorgeous coat from Oasis and knew I had to try it on. As soon as I put it on, I loved it, and with Dan’s approval, I went straight to tills. I love the unusual dusky pink colour, it makes it a bit different and I was so pleased to find a tailored coat that could be worn for casual and smarter occasions.

I think it looks great teamed with this H&M faux fur collar as it adds a little something, but I think it looks good on it’s own or accompanied by a scarf.

You can probably tell I like this coat quite a lot so I think it’s time to have that usual coat clear out I mentioned! Who else has treated themselves to a new coat for Autumn/Winter?
