something on a sunday: regaining my love for nail art

I hope you are all alright and have had good weekends; I haven't done too much but I like being chilled out. I've got a few busy weekends coming up so it's nice to relax.

I wanted to repaint my nails today (which seems to be a Sunday ritual now) and I wasn't sure what nail polish to use. I thought back to the days where I would always create different patterns and experiment with nail art and thought it was about time I did my favourite polka dot style.

I went for Essie Mint Candy Apple and used a white Rimmel nail polish to create the dots. I used the usual trick of a bobby/hair pin to create the dots by dipping them in a drop of polish (on a piece of card).

They aren't the best nails I've ever done but it was nice to get back into nail art.

Essie Mint Candy Apple

As you can slightly see I'm trying to stop biting my nails because I really miss wearing false nails but they really damaged my nails. Aside from the little finger I think I'm doing OK.

I'm no professional when it comes to nail art but I like to have fun and give it a go. Check out some of my previous posts on nail art...

I hoped you liked some of my nail art posts and I hope it's inspired you to give some a go.
If I can do definately can.

mac msf soft and gentle

Today I'm sharing my favourite highlighting product with you. It's one of my expensive pieces of make-up (probably isn't expensive to some people but it is to me).

So it's the MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle.

Rather than me trying to explain it to you, I'll let MAC do that...

A luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Smoothes on: adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks, brows, anywhere on the body: provides an ultra-deluxe polish to the skin.
MAC MSF Soft and Gentle, £21
This is one of those really versatile products; you can use it how you wish. I tend to apply it just above the apples of my cheeks, using my stippling brush to blend the shimmer towards the outer corner of my eye.
Soft and Gentle is an easy to wear shade but it's hard to describe the exact colour. In different lights it can look pink, gold or silver but overall it's gorgeous and works well with bronzer and especially blusher. There are a few other shades in the range but Soft and Gentle was my favourite.
As I said this before, this was an expensive product for me but now it's in my makeup bag I definately think it's worth every penny. Due to the shape and size of the product and the little amount of product you need, it will definately last a long time.
I hope you enjoyed today's post, who else has MAC MSF?
P.S I'm quite an excited bunny today as I went for a hair consultation and next week I'll be having a hair trim and I'll be getting my ombre style proffesionally re-done. I'm so happy about this because I've never splashed out on a proper colour before, but my hair is becoming a nightmare at the moment and it's not how I want it to be. I can't wait to show you what it looks this space.

something on a sunday: video: boots haul

So it's already Sunday, wow!
I was going to do another outfit post for you today but it hasn't stopped raining so I didn't think you'd be impressed by the drowned rat look.

I went on a bit of a Boots shopping spree yesterday so I filmed a Boots haul. It includes the new Tresemme Texture range, Umberto Gianaini, L'Orel Lumi, Model's Own and more so I would love it if you checked it out.

Thanks for watching if you did!
What have you all been up to this week?
Have you had a Boots shopping spree lately?

urban decay naked 2 palette

Hey everyone, I hope you are all alright!

Now I know everyone went crazy for the Urban Decay Naked 2 eye shadow palette when it came out and I know I'm a bit slow catching up but I finally got my hands on it.

Although I really wanted the palette I couldn't justify forking out £36 for it because to me, being a student, that is ridiculous. The only reason I got it was because I had a lot of money left over from my holiday and they were selling it on the plane so I thought, why not!

Overall I am loving the palette, I've had it for a couple of months now and I must use it nearly every day. My favourite shades are Half Baked, Chopper, Snakebite, Busted and Blackout because I think you can create an amazing look with these.

I think they're pretty long lasting but I need a little help...Basically I have just been using the brush provided but I don't feel like I'm getting the best out of the eye shadows with it. If someone could let me know a better brush to be using I would really appreciate it. At the moment I'm thinking a MAC 217 might be the way to go.

I should've done swatches but I didn't think it was needed considering it's rather easy to find pictures of the swatches.

I know it's a lot of money but if you have been wanting it for a long time I do think you'll be pleased. Although it's expensive the case feels robust and the shadows are lovely quality. This could definately be one for the Christmas list!

I hope you have a good weekend and look out for my Sunday post. I'm really hating the rain, it's really spoiling the lovely Autumn weather we were having, which I was loving!

Anyway speak soon and thanks for reading as usual!

VIDEO: autumn haul, part two

Hi everyone, hope you are all having good weeks. I have hit a wall with uni this week, I'm starting to struggle with my work load which is taking its toll, boo!

Anyway I forgot to post the latest part of my Autumn Haul. The first part was the clothes I had recently been buying and the second is my beauty products, skin care and makeup.

I hope you enjoy it...

If you don't tend to watch youtube videos then I've got some posts coming up very soon including MAC and Urban Decay so watch out for those!

something on a sunday: autumn days

I'm really excited about today's post. For one I feel like it's the start of something new (cue singing) for my blog.

I think this is the first time I've done my outfit pictures outside and I love it!

I know it might seem a bit of a dull background but I quite like it. I'm hoping to continue doing my outift posts outside because it adds so much (I think).

Another reason why I love today's post is because I'm debuting my new disco pants. Unfortunately I can't afford the £70 price tag of the original ones and in some ways I'm quite glad...I think it's a lot of money for shiny trousers (maybe I'm just bitter).

So mine are from Glamorous as my friend Lydia owns a pair and Lily Melrose has blogged great things about them. They're more affordable at £30 and you can get free delivery; they're also available on the Arc website. I was unsure about what size to get but I went with a 10 because that's what I get in jeans. When I started putting them on I started to panic because I didn't think they would go on. I struggled through and sucked myself in and they zipped up...phew! They haven't got a huge amount of stretch in them but that's what's good because they hold in your lumps and bumps!

I hope you like my outfit post!

Jacket: Primark
Top: Topshop
Disco Pants: Glamorous
Boots: Topshop
Bag: Urban Outfitters sale
Necklace: Debenhams

Lipstick: Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss, 107

I also love my new Rimmel lipstick from the new Kate Moss Matte collection. It's so suitable for Autumn and I'm going to do a more in depth post about it.

I hope you liked my blog post today and please let me know if you liked my new set up.

Thanks for reading as usual.

electric blue

Hey everyone,

So I've already let myself down with my Sunday post ritual but I think my excuse is acceptible. Basically one of my best girl friends goes to Reading uni and she was having a house party this weekend to celebrate her birthday. I ended up getting a lift with one of my friends and his mate. We left at about four on Sunday to come home and didn't get home till eleven ish (when I should've got home about half five). Basically his tyre completely went on the M25 so we were stranded on the hard shoulder in the freezing for the next hour and the rest of the saga lasted another three hours, what with waiting for a new tyre to arrive and be fitted. Although it was a nightmare, it was pretty funny and I had a good weekend overall.

I'm hoping after hearing my story you can forgive me!

Today I thought I would show you my favourite nail polish at the moment which was only £1.99! I had been really wanting Topshop's electric blue nail polish Awol for a long time but wasn't sure about forking out £5 on it. I was constantly trying to find a dupe when I was surprised to find one by Miss Sporty.

Now I never look at the Miss Sporty stand in Superdrug or Boots. I used to like their products when I was about 13 but unfortunately the cheapish packaging doesn't do it of me anymore. HOWEVER, shade wise this was a serious contender for an Awol dupe and I love it!! I think the shade is actually called Pop Fiction but it doesn't say on the bottle. It's part of the 'clubbing colours' range and it only costs £1.99.

When it came to application I was pleasantly surprised. It applied really well and I think with a reasonable coat you could get away with just one coat. I actually found the brush to be OK and in fact better than a Topshop polish I already own.

If you like the electric blue look on nails then this is definately one to try!

I hope to get back into blogging pretty regularly but I've been back at uni for three weeks now and my third year is already turning out to be the hardest yet. I have so much reading to do and with my new job with more hours I'm struggling to find time to blog.
I am going to try my hardest though and I want to start regularly doing outfit posts again as this is what I like to see the most from a blog.

Thanks for reading!
